# Terms of Service

Version 2, in force from 29 October 2026

## The short version

- Practice Lab is **free** to use without an account, for good. Nothing that is free today moves to Plus.
- **Plus** is an optional subscription (or a one-time Lifetime purchase) for sync, backup and long-range progress. It starts with a 14-day trial that asks for no payment details.
- Payments go through **Paddle**, our reseller. You can cancel any time in two clicks, and you have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase.
- **Your practice data is yours.** You can export it whenever you like, and nothing is locked if you stop paying.

This summary helps you read the terms; the numbered sections below are what we agree to.

## Who we are

## What Practice Lab is

1. Practice Lab is a practice app for guitar, bass, ukulele and piano that runs in your browser at practice.graph.audio (the “Service”). It writes exercises, plans practice sessions, quizzes you, and helps you transcribe recordings.
2. **Free use.** Everything you practise with is free, with no time limit and no account. Free use keeps your data in your browser on your device; we do not receive it.
3. **Plus** adds features that need our servers or go beyond everyday practice: sync between devices, an account backup with earlier versions, and the further features listed on the [pricing page](https://practice.graph.audio/pricing). Plus includes the features the pricing page shows as available on the day you buy. Features marked “coming” are planned, and we add them to Plus when they are ready at no extra charge; they are not part of what you pay for until then.
4. **Our promise.** We will not move a feature that is free today into Plus.

## Your account

1. You need an account only for Plus. You sign in with a passkey or a sign-in link sent to your email. Keep your devices and email secure; anyone who can sign in as you can see and change your practice data.
2. Anyone can use Practice Lab without an account. To create an account you must be at least 15 (the age from which Czech law lets you agree to an online service yourself); younger players need a parent or guardian to agree for them. To buy Plus you must be an adult, or have a parent or guardian buy it or agree to the purchase.
3. One account belongs to one person. Accounts created by bots or scripts are not allowed, and the free trial is once per person: opening new accounts to repeat it is not allowed.

## Plus: trial, prices and payment

1. **Trial.** Each account can try Plus free for 14 days, once. We ask for no payment details, and the trial ends on its own. Nothing is charged.
2. **Plans.** Plus is sold as a subscription billed every 3 months or every year, or as **Lifetime**, one payment for Plus without renewals. Prices are shown in US dollars on the pricing page before tax; VAT or sales tax for your country is added at checkout, which shows the full price before you pay.
3. **Paddle is the seller.** Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: your purchase is made from Paddle, which takes the payment, handles tax and issues your receipt and invoice under its own buyer terms. Paddle handles payment questions and refunds; we help with everything else.
4. **How a purchase works.** You choose a plan in Practice Lab, sign in if you have not, and Paddle’s checkout opens on the same page. It shows what you are buying, the price with tax and how often you pay. You can change or correct anything until you confirm the payment. The contract is made when Paddle confirms the payment; you then receive Paddle’s receipt and our confirmation email with these terms.
5. **Renewal.** A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the price you agreed, until you cancel. Paddle charges the payment method you used.

## Cancelling, and what happens after

1. You can cancel a subscription at any time in the customer portal, linked from every Paddle receipt and from [your account › Manage your subscription](https://practice.graph.audio/#subscription) in the app. (Your account is the button at the top right of the app; it shows your email address when you are signed in.) Cancelling stops future payments; Plus stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
2. Cancelling is different from withdrawing. To get your money back within 14 days of buying, see [Refunds and withdrawal](https://practice.graph.audio/refund).
3. **When Plus ends, nothing is locked.** Practice Lab keeps working on your devices with everything you have, sync pauses, and you can still download everything your account holds. We keep the account’s data for 12 months after Plus ends (after the last paid period, the trial, or a refund; for an account that never had Plus, after it was created). We warn you 30 and 7 days before we delete it, by email and in the app; an account with only a passkey and no email gets the warning in the app only. Buying Plus again before then keeps everything.
4. You can delete your account at any time in [your account › Manage account](https://practice.graph.audio/#manage). Deletion is immediate and complete; copies in our backups expire within 30 days. Records of purchases and withdrawals stay for 10 years, as accounting law requires, without your practice data. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription by itself, so cancel it first.

## What Lifetime means

1. Lifetime gives you Plus for as long as we offer Practice Lab, and for at least 5 years from your purchase.
2. If we stop offering Practice Lab within those 5 years, we refund the part of the price for the years that are left, counted month by month, and give you an export of everything your account holds.
3. Lifetime belongs to the account it was bought for and cannot be transferred or resold. Buying Lifetime does not cancel a running subscription; cancel it in the customer portal.

## Your data and what you make

1. Your practice data (plans, history, settings, notes, transcription sections) stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store, sync and back it up for you. We do not sell it, show ads, or use it for anything else; the [privacy policy](https://practice.graph.audio/privacy) says exactly what we keep and why.
2. Recordings you open in Transcribe never leave your device. Make sure you have the right to use the recordings you load; the Service only plays them for you.
3. Exercises, sheets and diagrams Practice Lab writes for you are yours to practise, print, teach with and share, as long as each copy names Practice Lab and its address, practice.graph.audio. Sheets Practice Lab prints for you carry that line; keep it when you share them. Selling them as your own product, or collecting them into a competing product, is not allowed.
4. Free use keeps your data only in your browser. Browsers can clear stored data (for example in private windows or when space runs low), so use **Export backup** now and then; we cannot recover data we never received.

## Fair use

When you use Practice Lab, you agree not to:

- access accounts or data that are not yours, or work around security features;
- overload the Service or its API, scrape it, or call the API from anything other than the app in a way that strains it;
- resell, rent out or sublicense access to Plus;
- upload malware, or trick, defraud or harass us or other people;
- use the Service against the law or to infringe other people’s rights.

If an account breaks these rules seriously or repeatedly, we can suspend or close it. We tell you why first, unless that would let harm continue or the law forbids it, and we refund any unused prepaid Plus time unless the account was closed for fraud.

## Our part of Practice Lab

1. The app, its code, design, texts and the name Practice Lab belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive right to use the Service under these terms; it does not include copying the app or its design.
2. We keep improving Practice Lab and may change or retire features. If a change to a Plus feature you paid for harms your use more than slightly, we tell you at least 30 days ahead, and you can end Plus within 30 days of the change and get back the unused part of what you paid.
3. We do our best to keep Practice Lab available and correct, but software has bugs and servers have outages. Free use works without our servers; sync waits and catches up when they return.

## Changes to prices and these terms

1. If we raise a subscription price, we email you at least 30 days before it applies. The new price starts with your next renewal after that, and you can cancel before then. If we lower a price, you pay the lower price from your next renewal.
2. We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We email account holders at least 30 days before a significant change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can end Plus before then and get back the unused part of what you paid. Every version stays available from this page, and our purchase confirmation names the version you agreed to.

## Defects and complaints

1. If Plus does not work as these terms and the pricing page describe, you have the rights the law gives you for a digital service that is not in conformity with the contract: to have it fixed, to a lower price, or to end the contract.
2. Write to [support@graph.audio](mailto:support@graph.audio) with what went wrong. We confirm that we received your complaint, tell you how we resolved it, and resolve it without undue delay and within 30 days at the latest, unless we agree on a longer time with you.
3. If we cannot agree, a consumer can turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, Štěpánská 567/15, 120 00 Praha 2, [coi.gov.cz/informace-o-adr](https://coi.gov.cz/informace-o-adr/)) for out-of-court dispute resolution, or to the consumer body or court where they live.

## Liability

1. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, such as for harm caused on purpose or by gross negligence, or for harm to life or health.
2. Beyond that, we are not liable for loss of data kept only in your browser, or for indirect loss such as lost earnings. Our total liability under a paid contract is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the harm.
3. Free use is a gift: it comes as it is, without any promise that it suits your purpose, as far as the law allows.
4. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of the internet or of our providers, attacks, or decisions of authorities. We resume as soon as we can.
5. **If you use Plus for a business** (not as a consumer), the consumer rules in these terms do not apply to you: there is no right of withdrawal beyond Paddle’s refund policy, our liability is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before the harm, and disputes go to the courts of Prague.

## Law and language

1. These terms are governed by Czech law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection its mandatory consumer law gives you, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
2. These terms exist in English and Czech; both versions have the same meaning. The contract is made in the language you read them in.
3. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
4. We may transfer this contract to another company that takes over Practice Lab; we tell you first, your rights stay the same, and you can end Plus with a refund of the unused part if you do not agree. Suggestions you send us we may use freely to improve Practice Lab.
5. Parts of these terms are adapted from the policies of 37signals LLC, published under [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) at github.com/basecamp/policies.
